Job fears weigh on UK consumers

Consumers tightened their belts even further in November, according to British Retail Consortium figures that showed a drop in total sales of 0.4 per cent on the month before.

That marked the first-ever back-to-back fall in sales since the group first began compiling its index in January 1994. Only the food and drink category recorded higher sales in November than in October, with demand falling in all others.
