Colony founder to invest in real estate debt

Tom Barrack, founder of Colony Capital, is raising about $500m to invest in real estate debt, another indication of how quickly risk appetite is returning to the markets.

Mr Barrack, a billionaire property investor who profited from the aftermath of the savings and loan crisis in the early 1990s, is raising the funds through ColonyFinancial, a public real estate investment trust (Reit).
