Home carriers take the fight to British rivals

Indian private airlines are shaking up the booming market for flights between the UK and India, but British Airways looks likely to maintain a lead on its rivals.

Traffic between the two countries has boomed since service limits were liberalised by a bilateral agreement nearly three years ago. Almost 3.5m people flew on UK-India routes last year, 67 per cent more than in 2004, according to UK Civil Aviation Authority figures.
