Why foreign investors are not saviours

After months of intense lobbying by foreign fund managers and investment banks, Chinese authorities have finally given them what they want – a licence to pour a further $6bn into one of the world’s worst-performing capital markets.

While China’s domestic investors are reeling from the continuing equity downturn, some foreign investors are smelling buying opportunities in a stock market that is now hovering above its eight-year low.
