IOC pleased with London progress

Olympic Games monitors have brushed off concerns about the impact of the recession on London 2012 preparations, saying they were heartened by stadiums construction progress.

The highlight of a three-day visit by International Olympic Committee members, which ended on Thursday, was a visit to the site in east London where the main stadium is taking shape and work has begun on the aquatics centre, the Olympic village and the velopark.
