Overview: US economic data lift markets

The dollar rebounded and Wall Street stocks staged a solid advance on Thursday as investors digested yet another batch of US economic data and attempted to decipher the implications of the Federal Reserve’s rate cut and statement on Wednesday.

However, activity was muted by the closure of much of continental Europe and Asia for public holidays.
