Soft drinks 'should carry health warnings'

A US consumer group has called for cigarette-style health warnings on soft drinks, to alert people to the harmful effects of too many sugary beverages.

The proposal by the Center for Science in the Public Interest (CSPI) highlights the increasing pressure on soft-drink producers, such as Coca-Cola and PepsiCo, over their alleged role in the obesity epidemic sweeping North America and western Europe.
