Spain ‘baby cheque budget targets families

Spain’s veteran finance minister on Tuesday unveiled an unusually generous budget for the 2008 election year.

Pedro Solbes is to provide more than €2.3bn ($3.2bn, £1.6bn) in tax breaks for single parents and families with newborn children, as well as rent subsidies for young adults who cannot afford to leave the parental nest.
