Mizuho and Sumitomo Mitsui return to profit

Mizuho Financial Group sold off some of its stock portfolio to return to profit in the second quarter, keeping its earnings forecast for the year.

Japan’s third-largest bank by market capitalisation posted a net income of Y92.2bn ($1bn) in the three months ended September, having posted a Y4.4bn loss in the first three months of the fiscal year.
