Shares closer lower across Asia

Shares in some of Macao’s biggest casino companies lost as much as a fifth of their value on Monday after China retained restrictions on mainland tourists visiting the former Portuguese enclave.

The fall helped drag the Hong Kong market nearly 3 per cent lower, its fifth-successive decline, to lead a broad retreat across the region. Japanese markets were closed for a public holiday.
