Cancer drug push at Novartis

Novartis yesterday said it would spend €925m ($1.3bn) to expand into speciality cancer drugs in an effort to strengthen its generic medicines business.

The Swiss pharmaceuticals group will acquire the speciality generic injectables activities of Ebewe Pharma, a privately held Austrian company bought out by management from BASF in 2001.
