No monuments for Ackermann

On the occasion of his 60th birthday, Deutsche Bank boss Josef Ackermann yesterday ruled out the idea of capping off his three decades in German banking - an ageing experience itself - with a big acquisition.

"I don't want to build a monument for myself by buying a bank. My successor would say 'My God what did he do at the end of his office, pinning us down for an eternity.'
