VW stock could be removed from Dax index

Volkswagen's shares are under threat of being withdrawn next week from Germany's benchmark equity index under rules published in response to days of highly volatile trading in the carmaker's stock.

The unusual step shows the extraordinary measures being taken by German stock market authorities to try to repair the reputational damage done by the huge swings in VW shares.
