Wellcome Trust invites bids on £3.8bn portfolio

The Wellcome Trust, the UK’s biggest charity, has invited bids for much of its £3.8bn private equity portfolio in a further sign that investors are rethinking their unlisted investment strategies.

The move comes as big institutional investors, including the endowment of Harvard University, are putting big chunks of their private equity portfolios up for sale in response to deepening financial and economic gloom.
