Vodafone and Telefónica on Monday announced a wide-ranging agreement to share mobile network infrastructure in the UK, Spain, Ireland and Germany – a deal that should provide savings worth hundreds of millions of pounds to both companies.

The agreement enables the two groups to strip out duplicative capital and operating spending in the four European countries in which they both offer mobile phone services.
