PanAmSat could help launch IPOs

PanAmSat, one of several satellite companies poached by private equity groups last year, was the first to re-emerge as a public company when its shares began trading on the New York Stock Exchange last week.

With a host of other recently acquired satellite groups waiting in the wings, many investors will be looking to PanAmSat as a barometer for the industry's post-IPO prospects.
