Shares in AEA surge

Shares in AEA Technology rose 16 per cent to 33¾p on Tuesday after the energy and environmental consultancy reported that interim trading was “slightly ahead of management expectations”.

The company said that orders for the first half to September were 80 per cent ahead after several contract wins in the US. However the previous first half included a contribution of only a couple of months from PPC, the US environmental consultancy acquired in the summer last year.
