Most people would support a law requiring internet service providers to block access to child abuse and paedophilic websites, according to research from Mori. About 82 per cent of people polled by the research organisation said that they would support government legislation on the issue and would support official monitoring of child pornography sites.

Most of the people polled said the government and internet service providers were not doing enough to combat child pornography. The research, commissioned by Streamshield, the internet filtering company, follows calls earlier this month by the NCH children's charity and the Association of Chief Police Officers for the government to set up an agency to investigate online child abuse.
