US soyabean surges on high export demand

US soyabean prices hit the $10-a-bushel level yesterday, reaching a three-month high, on evidence of strong export demand and concerns about dry weather affecting production in both Argentina and Brazil.

US soyabean exports are running about 15 per cent above last year's levels, helped mainly by strong demand from China, which announced a tender for a further 232,000 tonnes of US beans yesterday.
