Schroders in wake-up call for retirement plans

Big demographic changes are driving the winds of change through asset management houses as more individuals are opting to take early retirement but are not actively involved in investing for the future.

The mismatch, coupled with a rise in longevity, comes at a time when the UK is moving from defined benefit schemes, which many companies have found unsustainable, to defined contribution schemes that place the task of investing for retirement on the individual.
