UN study gloomy over resources

The world’s future economic growth is being jeopardised by the extent of environmental degradation, scientists warned on Thursday.

The United Nations Environment Programme issued the biggest report on the state of the world’s environment for 20 years, warning that overfishing, rising air and water pollution, the extinction of species and the degradation of agricultural land were all contributing to a gloomy outlook.
