Giuliani seeks to reassure the NRA

Rudy Giuliani, the US Republican presidential frontrunner, on Friday told gun enthusiasts they could trust him to defend the right to bear arms in spite of his high-profile support for gun control while serving as mayor of New York.

Mr Giuliani made the commitment in a speech to the National Rifle Association in Washington on Friday, as part of efforts to tackle doubts about his conservative credentials.
