Test flight: Plane with a propeller takes aim at the light brigade

A 1950s-designed Paris Jet sits on a pole outside the EADS Socata plant in Tarbes, France. An early forerunner of today’s very light jets, the four-seat twin-turbojet was built in Tarbes when the aircraft maker was still called Morane-Saulnier.

Today, the only complete aircraft in serial production at Tarbes is the fast and powerful single-turboprop TBM850, which is aimed directly at the VLJs.
