Brown calls for steeper emissions cuts

The world needs to cut its carbon dioxide emissions in 2020 by a further 10 per cent below the reductions that have already been promised to head off the threat of catastrophic global warming, Gordon Brown has told a meeting of leading economies in London.

The British prime minister on Monday also urged other world leaders to attend the climate talks in Copenhagen in December, which he said he wanted to be one of the meetings that “reach agreements that make history, because they change the course of history”.
