Fraud office disputes UK line on BAE

The head of the Serious Fraud Office last night disputed government claims that the investigation into the BAE/Saudi Arabia bribery allegations would have been unlikely to have led to charges.

Robert Wardle told the Financial Times it was not possible to reach such a firm view until an investigation was over. "There is no guarantee that charges will be brought until you've completed an investigation . . . so I had perhaps a different view."
