Hayward starts BP job cull in US

BP is to close its Chicago office and move to a smaller downtown site in the city, threatening more than 2,000 people with redundancy or relocation.

The plan, which was revealed to BP staff in an e-mail on Thursday, is the first move in the restructuring programme announced last week by Tony Hayward, BP’s new chief executive who took over in May.
