Were it located in Thailand or Greece, Seychelles’ Beau Vallon bay might look like a quiet place to get away from the crowds. The country’s busiest tourist hub, a 15-minute drive from Victoria, the capital, truly comes to life only on Wednesday evenings and occasional Saturdays, when local vendors organise the Bazar Labrin, a tourist market offering local crafts and snacks.
Most of the time the beach is given over to honeymooning couples, a mainstay of the tourist trade, who prize the place for its cachet as a once-in-a-lifetime destination.
