US markets pose problems for IP

International Power, the UK-listed electricity generator, said earnings per share this year would be “broadly in line” with 2008 and cash flows would be “significantly ahead of last year,” in spite of poor performance in the US.

US markets are still difficult because of the plunge in gas prices and lower electricity demand, and the Texas business is expected to be marginally weaker than the company expected in August.
