Jaguar Land Rover: Halewood makes its case

Does the recent $2.3bn acquisition of Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) by India’s Tata Motors mark a new era for car manufacturing at Halewood, one of Merseyside’s biggest employers, or is it the beginning of the end?

Halewood, which was the world’s biggest car factory under one roof when opened by Ford in 1963, looks the most vulnerable of the three UK car manufacturing plants that Tata inherited when it bought two of the most iconic British car brands.
