UK studios heading off the console

The UK games industry will continue its slide in the international rankings next year as the number of people employed by the sector passes its peak, a report warns.

Ranked by revenues from video games developed in each country, the UK is forecast to fall from third to fifth next year, according to Games Investor Consulting, a research group. Canada and South Korea, where governments offer greater tax breaks for research and development, are overtaking Britain.
