Tax ‘name and shame’ may hit non-evaders

Plans to “name and shame” tax evaders might end up hitting businesses embroiled in technical disputes, according to advisers who are lobbying for safeguards.

John Whiting, policy director of the Chartered Institute of Taxation, said it wanted clear, unequivocal guidance showing that the threat of publicity would be limited to cases of “real” evasion
