Oil breaks $115 after US stocks fall

Crude oil pushed above the $115 per barrel level on Thursday, extending its record-breaking run, but copper made a determined effort to steal the spotlight as the red metal hit a new peak.

Nymex May West Texas Intermediate hit a record high of $115.54 a barrel, finding continued support from US inventories data released in the previous session, which showed larger-than-expected falls in crude and petrol stocks.
