Pension scheme talks

The Financial Services Authority has begun consulting staff on closing its final salary pension scheme writes Norma Cohen .

The move, which is likely to be followed in the industry it regulates, comes as private-sector pensions face record shortfalls that dwarf the size of the Pension Protection Fund, the insurance scheme that underpins benefits for members of schemes of insolvent employers.
