A fifth of entrepreneurs earning more than £150,000 are planning to leave the country after the introduction of the 50 per cent income tax rate, a survey by Tenon, the accountancy firm, has found. The exodus might be even higher, according to the poll of more than 300 business owners, with 48 per cent of those interviewed claiming that they were still deciding what action to take.
Three quarters of respondents felt the government had not done enough to support small businesses and only 37 per cent felt the stimulus measures introduced in response to the financial crisis had helped their company.
