Wilbur Ross, the US billionaire, yesterday made his first move into the car parts sector since setting up an acquisition joint venture when he bought most of the European operations of Collins & Aikman, the bankrupt Michigan vehicle interiors specialist.
The purchase, for more than $100m, is designed to be the first of many as Mr Ross tries to consolidate the troubled components producers, repeating his profitable ventures into the US steel and textile sectors.
