Pork industry urges tougher labelling

British pork producers on Monday called for food labelling regulations to be toughened to highlight the country from which ingredients have been sourced, as fears rose that consumers could be unknowingly eating contaminated Irish pork.

The Food Standards Agency was on Monday trying to establish where exactly Irish pork imported into the UK had been distributed after Ireland recalled all pigmeat products after finding some had been contaminated with cancer-causing dioxins.
