Britain 'failed to alert Europe over food dye'

Britain has been criticised by the European Commission for failing to give adequate warnings to other European Union states about the Sudan 1 food scare.

The Commission said Britain failed to pass on enough information to allow them to carry out checks for contamination by the dye, which is linked to cancer.
