Jacob Zuma was elected as head of South Africa’s ruling African National Congress last December following a bitterly fought contest with President Thabo Mbeki that left the movement divided and business uncertain about the future direction of economic policy. Mr Zuma is now the probable successor to Mr Mbeki as president of South Africa. But corruption charges could still derail his ambitions.
