The head of Crédit Agricole, France’s biggest retail bank, on Tuesday bet his job and won after forcing a vote of confidence from the board in the wake of record subprime losses.
The bank, which is rooted in rural France through its origins as a lender to farmers, said after the board meeting on Tuesday: “It unanimously reiterates its full confidence in and support of Georges Pauget, chief executive.”
