A drop in visitor spending at Euro Disney, operator of Europe's biggest theme park, contributed to a doubling of losses in the six months to March 31, despite record attendance of 7.1m visitors.
The heavily-indebted company, which is 40 per cent owned by Walt Disney Co, made a net loss of €85.4m ($111.7m) in its first half, up 97 per cent on the previous year. Revenues fell by 4 per cent to €554m as visitor spending fell. The number of Spanish and British visitors - two of the countries in Europe worst affected by the economic downturn - fell sharply but was partly offset by more French visitors.
