News Corporation has moved swiftly to restructure its senior management team ahead of the imminent departure of Peter Chernin, with promotions for several of Rupert Murdoch’s key lieutenants.

Mr Chernin has been Mr Murdoch’s right-hand man for several years but will step down in June to pursue a film production career. The media group has opted not to appoint a direct replacement with the heads of its film and TV businesses now reporting directly to Mr Murdoch.
