Mark Cuban, the billionaire owner of the Dallas Mavericks basketball team, has struck a deal with Anschutz Entertainment Group to rebrand his HDNet television channel as a live music and entertainment network.

The deal will see Mr Cuban form a joint venture with AEG, Ryan Seacrest Media and Creative Artists Agency, relaunching HDNet as AXS TV. Mr Cuban told the Financial Times that the channel would do for live music and entertainment programming “what ESPN SportsCenter did for sports”.
