Retail sales rise fuels hopes of growth

The recent rebound in house prices is spilling over into growing demand for household goods, according to the latest official data on retail sales, leading to renewed optimism that the UK will return to growth in the fourth quarter

According to the Office for National Statistics, retail sales volumes rose 0.4 per cent in October, less than expected.
