Lenovo, the world’s fourth-largest PC maker, is to buy back its handset unit from a group of investors led by its parent’s private equity arm for $200m, double the amount for which it sold it just 18 months ago.

The deal underlines the drastic turn in strategy the company has taken after it brought back its founding management team in February, replacing an American chief executive. Lenovo is to further push its focus on China, the company’s original home market.
