Zimbabwe leaders optimistic as talks resume

There was mounting optimism in Zimbabwe on Wednesday of a breakthrough in negotiations aimed at ending the post-election crisis.

Thabo Mbeki, the South African president and mediator of talks between Zimbabwe’s political rivals, called off plans to return to Pretoria with all parties hinting that a deal was within reach.
