Tory Johnson backs Obama campaign

Boris Johnson, London mayor, has backed Barack Obama’s campaign to become US president in an unusual public endorsement of a Democrat by a senior Tory politician.

In a sign of the success of Mr Obama’s recent European tour, in which he met politicians of all persuasions, Mr Johnson said an Obama victory would be a “fantastic boost” for black people.
