Brown defends record on health spending

Gordon Brown on Thursday responded to opposition accusations that his Budget had neglected the NHS, saying that he had previously announced an extra £6bn for the health service this financial year and £6bn for the following year.

He told GMTV that despite the deficits in some NHS trusts most would receive “more money next year and the year after”.
