Jakarta plans $6.3bn stimulus package

Indonesia’s government has proposed an economic stimulus package worth $6.3bn – about 40 per cent larger than suggested this month – to mitigate the impact of the global crisis.

Sri Mulyani Indrawati, the finance minister, told parliament that the stimulus package was “aimed at sustaining consumer spending, strengthening businesses and developing labour-intensive infrastructure projects”.
