Circumcision urged in Aids battle

Leading international health experts on Wednesday called for countries with high HIV prevalence urgently to consider offering adult male circumcision in efforts to step up the fight against Aids.

An expert committee of the World Health Organisation (WHO) and Unaids, the United Nation's Aids co-ordinating body, said the evidence was now "compelling" that circumcision reduced sexual transmission of HIV from women to men.
