Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Turkey's Islamist-rooted prime minister, on Sunday said he would announce on Wednesday whether he would stand for the presidency.

Mr Erdogan's comments followed demonstrations at the weekend by thousands of secularists in Ankara protesting against his possible presidential bid.
